FEMA grants more than $6.2 million to the Texas Department of Transportation for emergency response and protective measures during Hurricane Harvey

AUSTIN, Texas – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded more than $6.2 million for the Texas Department of Transportation support activities following Hurricane Harvey.  The department set up temporary base camps in seven locations, Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, Sugarland, Beaumont, Refugio, Yoakum and Liberty, to provide lodging and meals to first responders and emergency officials after Harvey’s landfall. The camps provided needed lodging and food services that were not available in the area after the hurricane.  The $6.2 million federal grant funds the entire scope of the camp operations....
