Showers and thunderstorms have become better organized in association with an area of low pressure located a few hundred miles south-southwest of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. This system could become a short-lived tropical depression later today or tonight before moving over colder waters on Tuesday. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...60 percent. 2. An area of low pressure is forecast to form a few hundred miles southwest of the Gulf of Tehuantepec later this week.
