Disaster Recovery Center in Orleans Parish Closing in Two Weeks

BATON ROUGE, La. — The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Orleans Parish will close in two weeks, Friday, April 14. The DRC address and operating hours are:

East New Orleans Public Library  Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
5641 Read Blvd.    Saturday, April 8: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
New Orleans, LA 70127   Closed on Sundays.

The last Saturday the DRC will operate is April 8. DRC visitors on that day may also attend a one-day Disaster Recovery Resource Fair across the street at the New Orleans East Hospital from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  The event will be held at the atrium of the hospital at 5620 Read Blvd., New Orleans.

The FEMA Helpline is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. Help is available in most languages. Disaster survivors who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability and use a TTY may call 800-462-7585. Those who use 711 or Video Relay Service or require accommodations while visiting a center may call 800-621-3362.

Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), volunteer groups and other agencies are at the DRC to help survivors apply for disaster assistance. Low-interest disaster loans from the SBA are available for businesses of all sizes including landlords, private nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters. The City of New Orleans will also provide resources.

The deadline to submit a disaster loan application to SBA is Wednesday, April 12.
