FEMA grants nearly $1.7 million to St. Thomas Episcopal Church for school facilities

AUSTIN, Texas – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded nearly $1.7 million to the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Houston to construct a temporary school facility and to lease property for the facility following Hurricane Harvey.  The facility’s 16 temporary classroom buildings and one bathroom building are anticipated to be used for two to three years until the St. Thomas Episcopal School facilities are refurbished. FEMA grants more than $4.4 million to the City of Friendswood

AUSTIN, Texas – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded more than $4.4 million to the City of Friendswood for debris removal following Hurricane Harvey.  The city removed more than 150,000 cubic yards of debris after the storm’s wind and flooding. The cost of the removal and cleanout is nearly $4.9 million. The grant of more than $4.4 million is the federal share of the cost and requires a 10 percent nonfederal match by the applicant, or $489,698. These funds come from FEMA’s Public Assistance grant program which reimburses communities for actions...
