Deadline for FEMA assistance is tonight; Recovery centers remain open until next week

AUSTIN, Texas – The deadline to register for FEMA assistance is midnight tonight, Monday, Sept.16, however, help remains at three Disaster Recovery Centers in the Valley.  The recovery centers will remain open throughout this week to serve survivors who may have questions about other resources or their federal disaster assistance applications. The centers will close beginning Tuesday, Sept. 24.  Hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.  AUSTIN, Texas – Monday, Sept. 16 is the final day for South Texans with damages from the June severe storms and flooding to register for FEMA grants. The Texas counties designated for federal individual assistance are: Cameron, Willacy and Hidalgo. FEMA assistance to individuals and families recovering from the floods in South Texas tops $11.7 million.
