Harvey survivors who received group flood insurance should prepare to purchase a standard flood insurance policy in 2020

AUSTIN, Texas – If you received flood insurance as part of your FEMA disaster assistance for Hurricane Harvey, you only have one year remaining on your National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) group insurance policy. Planning to renew your NFIP policy purchase is a great way to prepare for future disasters and protect you and your family from financial loss.  At least 30 days before your group policy expires in August 2020, you should purchase a standard NFIP policy to avoid a lapse in coverage. UT Marine Science Institute rebuilding for the future

Two years after Hurricane Harvey, the Port Aransas Campus is rebuilding stronger and smarter AUSTIN, Texas — When Hurricane Harvey ripped through Port Aransas in 2017, it tore off roofs, flooded buildings and destroyed a pier at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute, halting its cutting-edge research and education programs. “The devastation was massive. There was destruction everywhere,” said Robert W. Dickey, director of the Marine Science Institute. “But in typical Port Aransas fashion, Texas fashion, everybody started coming back a lot stronger right away. Very soon after the storm, everybody was...

The cost of the policy is based on several factors including the building’s flood risk.  If you are a renter in low-to-moderate risk areas, you may be eligible for a Preferred Risk Policy. These policy premiums are...
