FEMA assistance tops $10 million for South Texas flood survivors

AUSTIN, Texas – Federal assistance to help individuals and families with basic needs resulting from the recent flooding in South Texas now tops $10 million, about a month after the July 17, 2019, disaster declaration.The $10.3 million, approved through FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program, includes $8.9 million in Housing Assistance to help pay rent for those whose homes were not habitable and for home repairs after the storm. Noble, Okmulgee, Ottawa and Tillman Counties Added to Disaster Declaration for Public Assistance Funding

OKLAHOMA CITY – Four more counties in Oklahoma are now eligible to apply for FEMA’s Public Assistance funding to supplement state and local recovery efforts in areas that sustained damage from the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding between May 7 and June 9, 2019.  Noble, Okmulgee, Ottawa and Tillman counties may now request reimbursements under the Public Assistance grant program. FEMA grants $1 million to the Port Aransas Independent School District

AUSTIN, Texas – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded more than $1 million to the Port Aransas Independent School District for repairs to its athletic fields following Hurricane Harvey.  The school district’s softball field, tennis courts and running track were damaged from the high winds, storm surge and wind-blown debris. Paneling, a dugout roof, turf as well as lighting, fencing and drainage were among the damages found at the three facilities. The total cost of the repairs was more than $1.1 million and included a $111,508 nonfederal cost share. The grant...

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahomans who have experienced damage during the recent severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding between May 7 – June 9 should apply for FEMA assistance even if they have insurance.
