Denham Springs to Receive $2.8 Million More for Debris Removal

BATON ROUGE, La. — The City of Denham Springs will receive nearly $2.8 million in disaster funding to assist with citywide debris removal efforts following the August 2016 floods.Eligible debris categories include household garbage, construction debris, household hazardous waste, appliances and electronics. This now represents about $8.5 million in federal reimbursements for debris removal in the city. Recovery Funds Continue to Flow to East Baton Rouge Schools

BATON ROUGE, La. — FEMA has approved an additional $1.1 million for flood recovery efforts of schools in East Baton Rouge.Disaster funding will help the Runnels School with reimbursements for damaged equipment and contents. Runnels is the oldest private school in Baton Rouge. Items eligible for replacement include: desks, bookshelves, supplies, musical instruments and electronic and athletic equipment.During the August floods, 16 school campuses throughout the parish flooded.
